The objective of the work package is systematic research and development on waste prevention, analysis of material flows of selected waste, identification of the environmental impact of selected waste types and the development of methods for the treatment of new waste types in line with the waste hierarchy. As part of the work package, 4 types of specific waste streams are integrated for which their real flows will be identified, the available technologies analysed, their potential environmental impacts identified and prevention practices considered, or methods proposed for their recovery. In addition to these wastes designed in line with the IICs priority objectives, the work package is aimed at identifying other types of new waste and technological foresight with a view to their recovery or treatment options in the context of a circular economy. Intensive collaboration with the work package 1.E on BAT in waste treatment and industrial waste is envisaged in this area. The results of the technology analysis solutions will then be further exploited as part of the work package 1.F focusing on national monitoring of the waste and circular economy. The follow-up to the research agenda is on other work packages, particularly in relation to the use of sludge and its possible contamination.
